This is a billion dollar question that is begging for answer. Demand for food in Africa is on the increase whereas the human resource in the sector is going south.
The youths has been brain washed on how poverty is related to Agriculture and are therefore not willing to engage in the green collar profession.
Despite the huge opportunities lying fallow in Agriculture, youths still prefer the already saturated fields over agriculture. Little wonder hunger and unemployment is on the increase thereby making creative crimes the norm in the society.
To ensure the future of our food system is secured, project Face of Agriculture Africa (FOAA) has being helping youths see beyond the stereotype attached to Agriculture and open their eyes to countless opportunities that are yet untapped in the green field.
This was our mission at the St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School Akure where we reminded the student that the strongest economy in Africa was once built on Agriculture and show them the possibilities of collectively replicating same even at a greater scale in this present time of our national economy
